What is Limmud Colorado?

Limmud is a multi-day, multi-generational, interdenominational, and volunteer-led festival of Jewish learning.  Since the first Limmud was held 25 years ago in the United Kingdom, Limmud has spread to a dozen cities around the world, including Moscow, Jerusalem, Istanbul, Berlin, and New York.  Limmud Colorado was established by a group of volunteers who are enthusiastic about bringing this dynamic celebration of Jewish life, learning and culture to Colorado.  The inaugural Limmud Colorado conference will be held Memorial Day weekend, May 23-26, 2008 at the Keystone Resort.  This location was selected for its inspiring setting in the Rocky Mountains, as well as its proximity to Denver. 

Who can attend Limmud Colorado?

Anyone from Colorado or around the country who is interested in Jewish learning, from every age group and background, is welcome to attend Limmud Colorado. We anticipate that some participants will have been Jewishly involved their whole lives, while others will be just beginning to explore their Jewish journeys.  Our goal is to have 200 participants at Limmud Colorado in 2008. 

Why do we need Limmud Colorado?

At a time when many bemoan the surging rates of assimilation within the Jewish population, Limmud is a burst of positive Jewish energy.  Its unique culture of volunteer led direction ensures that the discussions, panels and presentations featured at the conference provide what the attendees want.  More importantly, the process of community building is driven by volunteers from all backgrounds.  The beauty of this approach is that it allows for multiple entry points into Jewish life.  Some may choose a focused, text-based lecture, while others might opt for a spiritual hike in the mountains or a lively, interactive music class.  Jewish joy can be accessed in a myriad ways and the format of Limmud allows for that diversity.
